Phillies Winter Tour Brings Excitement to St. Mary Interparochial School!
The Phillies Winter Tour continued Tuesday, January 21, 2025 with a special visit to Saint Mary Interparochial School in Philadelphia! Miss Rakus’ first-grade class had participated in the Phanatic About Reading program presented by Xfinity, and our students had the incredible opportunity to welcome the Phillie Phanatic and some of their favorite Phillies players!
More than 300 students gathered in excitement as Kody Clemens, Buddy Kennedy, Orion Kerkering, Cristopher Sánchez, and Weston Wilson surprised them with a fun and interactive reading session. The players read and acted out scenes from The Phillie Phanatic’s Hero, bringing the story to life in a way that delighted students and staff alike.
St. Mary Interparochial School is proud to be part of the Phanatic About Reading program, which encourages students from Pre-K through 8th grade to read (or be read to) for at least 15 minutes a day to strengthen their literacy skills. With over 164,000 students participating each year, this initiative has been instrumental in fostering a love for reading in young minds.
Today’s visit was a testament to the power of literacy and the joy that reading can bring. We are grateful to the Philadelphia Phillies, Xfinity, and the Phanatic for making this event such a memorable experience for our students!
